Long-term care can be pricey, and although most seniors could benefit from affordable assisted living, it’s often out of reach. Eastside Active Living doesn’t work directly with Medicaid, but they are proud to work with Medicaid diversion programs with Long Term Care insurance companies. This includes, but isn’t limited to Humana, Simply, Sunshine, and FCC in an effort to make assisted independent living more affordable. We want our residents to have an excellent quality of life while maintaining their independent lifestyles and getting their medical needs met. That’s why Eastside Active Living is happy to have contracts with all a/m providers.
Assisted living is perfect for someone who could use a bit of help with everyday tasks but still wants to be as independent as possible. It’s also extremely beneficial for seniors who need around-the-clock medical care. Although it’s tough finding assistance to pay for assisted living, Medicaid does help to an extent.
What’s Covered By Medicaid?
When Medicaid needs to determine what is covered through insurance, they send a case manager. They take the time to decide what is medically necessary for every individual. There is a wide variety of coverage possibilities that you can get.
Suppose the case manager finds them to be medically necessary. In that case, Medicaid may cover attendant care, behavior management, chore services, companion services, personal care, social and recreation services, and assistance transitioning from nursing homes.
Medicaid can also cover typical medical necessities like assistance administering medication, durable medical equipment, disposable medical supplies, medical equipment, and physical therapy can also be covered. Covering the medical aspects of your stay can give you an affordable assisted living option.
What’s Not Covered By Medicaid?
Unfortunately, Medicaid does not cover the basic costs of room and board at Eastside Active Living. While Medicaid can cover the nursing home room and board, they exclude assisted living facilities like Eastside in that coverage. This means, no long-term living is covered.
With the help of a diversion program, residents can get assistance with room and board if they are approved. This usually entitles each resident to $1,400 – $1,500 a month, which Eastside uses for rent payments. If you’re living on a fixed income, the subsidy could be the perfect amount!
Medicaid programs don’t cover 24/7 in-home care either. If round-the-clock care is needed, an assisted living that accepts Medicaid, like Eastside Active Living, could be your perfect solution.
